Orlando Family and Medical Leave Act Lawyers

Vigorous Representation in FMLA Cases

Under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), employers must grant employees up to 12 weeks of paid or unpaid leave for medical purposes or to care for an ailing family member. If the circumstances of your case entitle you to leave time and your employer denies it, or if the employer retaliates against you because you have claimed or taken it, you have the right to claim compensation for your lost wages, lost benefits and attorney fees.

Your Rights Under the Law

Employers who have 50 or more employees must provide up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave each year for most employees who have worked at the company for at least one year. The employer can choose to provide the 12 weeks during an annual period or a 12-month rolling period. The leave does not have to be taken in a continuous segment. You can take leave periodically — for example, to attend physical therapy sessions or for regular appointments with a doctor. If you believe that your rights have been violated, call 407-278-7243 for a consultation with Orlando Family and Medical Leave Act attorney Thomas J. Pilacek.

Workers' Compensation Retaliation Cases

An employer cannot fire you for filing a workers' compensation claim. If you have been fired or have suffered other types of retaliation for filing a workers' compensation claim, our firm can represent you.
